Plank and Trestle, tables made with love
THE PERFECT TREE CHANGE
We moved to the Southern Highlands for the fresh air, glorious country side and change in lifestyle. On a quest to pursue our passion – design and woodwork, we took over Plank and Trestle in mid 2018, knowing it was a business born from a love of simple, yet character filled designs.
Our mission is simple, to continue to grow trestle table love through fresh and innovative design that incorporates a balance between traditional and modern style.
We meticulously craft striking, functional and bespoke trestle tables, for all occasions, from our workshop in the beautiful Southern Highlands of New South Wales.
So here goes … join us on our journey.
Wood, Metal and Stone. The three materials I absolutely love, so it’s therefore no surprise I wanted to incorporate metal into our tables. I first came across Steve, from the 1910 Ironworks, when browsing through Instagram, and instantly I knew that I needed to make contact and float some ideas!
I wanted to introduce something that was raw and beautiful which would complete our wood tabletops and give it that extra edge and industrial look. Our limited-edition hand forged metal table straps, complete with handmade nails does just that!
Steve was on point with our brief and it was absolutely wonderful collaborating and working collectively with another local artisan.
The 1910 Ironworks in Wildes Meadow was established by Steve Hogwood, who’s been a smith for over 35 years. The concept was to reintroduce the local smithy back into the community, after an absence of over 50 years. This of course takes time and after just 12 months the people of the Highlands are now utilising these old crafts for the restoration of their houses and furniture.
